The goal of the ShopAssist Project is to create a responsive website that would allow users to input and save their recipes. The users can access this stored information to create a Shopping List with the ingredients from their recipes.
ROLE
Front-End Developer and Lead UX Designer
KEY INSIGHTS
Having an app that lowers the time spent planning and shopping makes more time with family.
Easy access to recipes makes it easier to cook more exciting meals.
Planning made easy is the biggest benefit of ShopAssist. Users can easily compile their recipes into grocery lists.
INITIAL CONCEPTS
This was an iterative group assignment, where I worked with 3 other developers to create a web application. I was the lead UX designer and front-end developer. Above is a copy of the presentation we used to showcase our work. We had many mockups that used more of an engineering aproach to development but below you will see that we still utilized wireframes and mockups to create the finished product.
WIREFRAMES
We knew we wanted users to be able to search their recipes, access their shopping lists, and save everything they were doing within the website. Below are the first wireframes we created.
USER TESTING RESULTS & FINAL MOCKUPS
User testing results indicated that we needed to update the color functionality to be more accessible to our users. We also improved the overall navigation from the results. Below are our final mockups of the design after user testing.

NEXT STEPS
Conduct research on how successful the app is in reaching the goal of minimizing the time users spent meal planning and recipe prepping.
Add a social aspect of sharing recipes with others.
Gather recipe information directly from websites.
